This or That? #1

Hi, everybody! Bookmarkchronicles created this new thing called “This or That”. Everyone Monday she posts a This or That Challenge on her blog where we have to choose between two characters or scenarios. Click here for her original post.

This week it’s Peeta vs Gale! Haha, here we go. * evil smile* (There might be some spoilers for the end of Mockingjay.)

The Hunger Games is for a big part known for its lovetriagle. After Harry Potter, these were the books that got me into reading. I always was and always will be team Peeta. It was like that after the first chapters and it was like that after the last word in Mockingjay.

Here’s why:

I never liked Gale that much. Even before that one thing that happened (you know what I’m talking about). I always saw Katniss and Gale as friends, I never imagined them together as a couple.  Gale isn’t really an understanding character, he moslty just complains the whole time about the Capitol. And I can’t stand his homicidal thoughts. I know, he has some good sides too. He takes cares for his family and for Katniss’ when Katniss’s away, he wants justice, … But I don’t think he could give Katniss what she needed. They are too much alike. There are these relationships where this is a good thing but sometimes it just isn’t.

Peeta on the other hand (is my bae *wink*) knows what Katniss has been through and knows her inside and out. Peeta was always the one Katniss needed. He was the one who protected her. He was the one who Katniss needed to fight the nightmares. Because Peeta knew how Katniss felt. He had been through the same nightmare. They survived the Games together, they only needed each other. I’m sure Katniss couldn’t live without Peeta. If you’re not convinced yet can I please quote a piece of the last page of Mockingjay:

“That what I need to survive is not Gale’s fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is a dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destrucion. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it could be good again. And only Peeta can give me that.”
