The Emoji Book Tag

Hi, everybody! I’ve been tagged by Dreamy Addictions to do the Emoji Book Tag. Thank you so much for tagging me! Also, check out her blog because it’s amazing!

The seven booktubers who created this tag:

Liz from lizlovesliterature
Jenny from Jellafy
Sanaa from InkBonesBooks
Dylan from dylanbooks
Max from WellDoneBooks
Vilde from vforvilde
Scott from Scott Place

My top 5 most used emojies (currently):

1. Cry-laughing emoji – A book/character that makes you cry of laughter.

For this I’m going for Paper Towns because Ben is hilarious! And we all know that John Green has a really good writing style by putting these funny parts in a really good book. I remember reading this book when a teacher was ill so we all had to study and be quiet but, of course, I started reading. There was no noise at all in the whole classroom and then I came to the part when we first met Ben and he said that thing about Q’s mom and I started laughing so hard and everyone looked at my like I was mental but I just couldn’t stop laughing… XD

2. Heart-shaped-eyes emoji – My favourite character.

Okay, by now you should all know who my favourite character of all time is. He’s cute, he’s brave, he’s adorable, he’s loyal, he loves socks and I ship him with Winky. YES! I’m talking about Dobby! How can you just not love him? He’s so… I can’t even! *Fangirl feels taking over*

Crazy-tongue-out emoji – A kind of crazy and sassy character.

I just have to pick Percy Jackson. Can you imagine him doing this face to a monster or something he just defeated? XD

4. Little pink hearts – Favourite romance.

I find it really hard to find a favourite romance since I still don’t know a lot of it but I’m going to pick the first romance that pops into my head and that I liked which is Four and Tris. I really like the Divergent trilogy when I read it. It’s also one of my first YA series I’ve ever read and I absolutely adored the relationship between Four and Tris.

5. Smiley face emoji – A book/series that makes you happy.

The Harry Potter series… Surprise, surprise! I don’t think this needs any explanation. :p

I nominate:

That was it! I hope you enjoyed it! If you’re tagged but you already did this tag or you just don’t want to do it you can totally ignore this. 🙂

Btw, school starts again tomorrow and I don’t know how much I will post during school weeks. I’ll try to post as much as possible and to find a shedule. As soon as I have a shedule of posting I will let you know. 🙂

Bookreview: Very Good Lives by J. K. Rowling

Hi, everybody! I’m back with a new bookreview! This will rather be a smaller bookreview but I still hope you’ll enjoy reading it. 🙂

Titel: Very Good Lives

Author: J. K. Rowling

Genre: Non-fiction

Pages: 80

Rating: 5/5

Synopsis (Goodreads)

In 2008, J.K. Rowling delivered a deeply affecting commencement speech at Harvard University. Now published for the first time in book form, Very Good Lives offers J.K. Rowling’s words of wisdom for anyone at a turning point in life, asking the profound and provocative questions: How can we embrace failure? And how can we use our imagination to better both ourselves and others?

My review

I wanted to buy this book for such a long time but I always bought other books first. But then I heard Jessethereader (over at Youtube) talk about this book and he said how inspiring it was so I bought it, read it and absolutly loved it. Inspiring it was indeed. From the first page already I was laughing and then crying. Laughing because Jo is so funny and crying because she said something about Harry Potter (Nostalgic…) Jo is so wise and experienced and she’s a real example. In this book she talks about failure and about not failing in your life is impossible. I’m sure this will reassure a lot of people, especially me. I know, I’m still very young but how older you get and how closer you come to adulthood the more responsibility you have. I don’t know about the other kids my age but I’m terrified of growing up. When I’m in an important turning point in my life I will definitly reread this book and let myself reassure by Jo’s wise words.
Also, Jo talks about how important it is to imagine. How important it is to stand in someone else’s shoes and how important your existance can be to other people. Because of Jo’s words I want to be a better person and she makes all our lives meaningful.

I’m so glad I read this book and I hope Jo will turn more speeches like this in a book.

Did you read this book? What did you think of it? Comment below or send a link to your review. I’d love to read it. 🙂

The Liebster Award

Hi, everybody! I was nominated by the amazing Fieittyreads for the Liebster Award! Thank you so much for the nomination!

Kira’s questions and my answers:

1) Have you watched any tv show recently? If not, which (ones) would you like to?

For over a year now I’ve been trying to catch up with Pretty Little Liars but I’m just not that kind of person who can sit behind her computer and watch episode after episode of a tv show… Now I still need to watch and season and a half but the site where I watched it on doesn’t work anymore. *facepalm* Maybe one day I will finish Pretty Little Liars but I have no desire to watch a tv show that isn’t currently on tv.

2) Where is your favourite place to buy clothes?

I’m not that big of a shopping person but when I have to  buy new clothes I just go to the mall and walk into the stores where I may like something.

3) What is your favourite snack food?

Crisps! I adore crisps!

4) What is one thing you think is weird/different about your country?

What is weird or different about Belgium? I seriously have no idea…? Maybe you know something? Comment below.

5) Who is your obscure fictional crush?

It’s not like a big fictional crush or something… When I hear ‘fictional crush’ I think of Peeta, Percy, Jace or Jacob Portman. But if I hear ‘obscure fictional cursh’ I’ll have to go with Rhysand of A Court of Thorns and Roses. Like I said in the beginning; it’s not my real crush. I’m still not really sure about him but I kind of do like him.

6) Your LEAST favourite beverage?

Tonic of Schweppes! Ugh! I hate it! It’s awful!

7) Do you have any siblings?

I have one older brother.

8) What is driving like in your country?

We begin to learn to drive when we’re seventeen or eighteen and when you’re eighteen you can get your license. Driving itself is like the most countries I think. We drive on the right side, … I still have to wait for four years untill I can get my license. :p

9) What job do you wish existed?

Full-time reader would be amazing! But what would be totally awesome is that there would be more chance to succes as a writer. Especially in Belguim. Here (and in actually most of the countries) you can’t just live by writing. When you’re an Amarican or Brittish writer you have more chance to succes because you have more chance that your books will be published around the world. In Belgium it’s already hard to be succesfull in your own country.

10) What other things are you obsessed with, besides reading?

Is there something else? I love watching booktube and I love bookstagram. I also really like to dance but it’s not an obsession anymore. When I was like nine I danced all day.

11) What is something that makes you uncomfortable?

Talking to people… I know this may sound weird but it is as it is. I don’t feel uncomfortable with talking to people I talk to a lot. But when I don’t talk to you for at least once in a week I will feel a little bit uncomfortable. Also when you’re a person who makes me uncomfortable.

Those where the answers and now the facts. In the post of the Creative Blogger Award I gave some very random facts so now they will be more normal.

Eleven facts about me:

  1. I am from Belgium.
  2. I am fourteen years old.
  3. I have one older brother. He’s sixteen.
  4. I like to go to school. (It’s the waking up and the teachers I don’t like.)
  5. I am a night owl.
  6. I want to be an author but I am not sure that will happen.
  7. My biggest dream is to meet J. K. Rowling.
  8. My other dream is to see a book of mine published.
  9. My favourite place to be is alone in my room.
  10. I jump from a distance in my bed because I’m scared someone from under my bed will grab my feet.
  11. I have an idea for a trilogy but I still haven’t started writing because I don’t have interesting characters. Yet (hopefully). I hope to get more ideas through the years.

So that was it! I hope you like it! I’m not going to nominate anyone because I have the feeling everyone was already nominated once.

Bookreview: The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes

Hi, everybody! Today I’ve finally got a new bookreview for you! Since it’s a review of a sequel in a series there will be spoilers for the first book obviously.

Titel: City of Ashes

Author: Cassandra Clare

Genre: Fantasy Adventure

Pages: 453

Rating: 4/5

Synopsis (Goodreads)

Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what’s normal when you’re a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who’s becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn’t ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary’s only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father.

To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?

My review

In this second book of the Mortal Instruments we get to know a lot more about the other characters. In the first book the story is mostly told from Clary’s point of view and the story is more about about her. In City of Ashes is told from multiple point of views. Hereby we get a look inside the heads of Jace, Alec, Simond and the new character Maia.
Maia is a young girl who turns into a werewolf and joins the pack of Luke after a traumatic childhood. I would like to know more about her because she looks like an interesting character.
We also get to meet the mother of Alec, Isabelle and Max, Maryse, and the Inquisitor named Imogen Herondale. In the beginning they both look and act really harsh but later on we see that they both had their reason for it.
The whole brother and sister thing annoyed me so much. I don’t say I think it’s bad or something, it makes the story very interesting but I’m a big Clace shipper. (SPOILER!!! No, I’m not a incest shipper I just already know things.)
In the first book I found Clace meh because I found Clary meh. In this book, though, I thought Clary was more likable. She proves she can do things and that she’s worth something.
At the end of City of Bones, when Jace and Clary find out they’re siblings and when Jace finds out his father is alive and lied to him for years, you see that Jace is shocked. He lost his sarcastic and charming self. Fortunatly he somewhat returns to his old self in this book. Because of his point of view I ship Clace. I don’t ship them for Clary. I ship them for Jace because I know now how important Clary is for him after he thought he would never love someone the way he loves Clary.

This book was all exitement. Everytime when something important was about to happen Cassandra Clare changed the point of view whereby you couldn’t put the book down.

One disadvantage was that the dialoges were confusing sometimes whereby I didn’t know what happend at some small moments

Overall was it a very good sequel!

Did you read this book? (Of course you did.) What did you think of it? Comment below or send a link to your review if you have one. I’d love to read it! 🙂

The Creative Blogger Award

Hi, everybody! I was nominated by  Fieitty Reads to do the Creative Blogger Award. Thank you so much for the nomination!

• Thank the person who nominated you and include a link to their blog.

• Share 5 facts about yourself.

• Nominate some bloggers in return and notify them about their nomination.

• Keep the rules in your post to make it easy for everyone to know what to do.

Five (very random) facts about me:

  1. I can only eat soup with a small spoon for children. Large spoons are annoying.
  2. When I eat, I first eat all the vegetables, then all my patatoes and last all of my meat. I never mix things. A lot of people think that’s strange.
  3. I always first put my right sock/shoe on, then my left.
  4. When I was little I was scared to go to the toilet.
  5. Sometimes I start to scream out of nowhere because I’m thinking of books, actors, …

I nominate:

So those were five very, very, very random facts about me! If I nominated you but you already did it or you just don’t want to do it, you can totally ignore this. 🙂 Btw, sorry for the lack of bookreviews but I’m trying to read more books so I can write more bookreviews! I promise that next week you’ll get one! (Maybe two, sshh!)

The Blogger Recognition Award

Hi, everybody! The Enchanted Book, Dat Little Blog and Fieittyreads nominated me for The Blogger Recognition Award. Thank you so much for nominating me!

The rules are:

  • Select 15 other blogs you want to give the award to. Do some digging if you must! Find those blogs. You cannot nominate yourself or the person who has nominated you.
  • Write a post to show off your award! Give a brief story of how your blog got started, and give a piece of advice or two to new bloggers. Thank whoever nominated you, and provide the link to their blog. List who you’ve nominated in the post.
  • Comment on each blog and let them know you’ve nominated them. Provide a link to the award post you’ve created.
  • Link to the original post at Edge of Night

How did my blog start?

A couple of months ago I came in touch with Bookstagram  and I also made my own Bookstagram. But after two or three months I wanted to do something more. So I thought I’d made a bookblog. I enjoy it so much and I absolutly love writing bookreviews for all of you to read and I hope you like them. 🙂

My advice?

It feels a little weird to give advice to other bloggers since they probably are older than me and have more experience. Still I’d like to tell you some little and maybe obvious things I think you should all know. 🙂

Before you upload your blogpost check what you wrote for mistakes. It’s annoying to read something with mistakes as forgetting a space between two words or if there’s a lettre in a word that shouldn’t be there because you typed too fast. Make sure your spelling and grammar is correct. If English isn’t your native language I totally underdstand that you make mistakes. I make mistakes too since my native language is Flemish but I’m doing my best… :p

Make sure you make friends. Or at least be friendly. If someone comments on you post, be so kind to reply! That way you  can make a sort of bond with your readers. They will keep reading your posts because they remembered how nice you were. Of course this is nice for us bloggers, too.

I don’t know who I should nominate because I have the feeling everybody was allready nominated for this award. If you’re not, just comment below and I’ll nominate you!

The Harry Potter Tag

I wasn’t tagged by anyone to do the Harry Potter Tag but I saw it a couple of days ago at Curiouser and Curiouser’s blog. I really wanted to do this so you, guys, can know some of my thoughts on the best bookseries ever written and here I am!

1) Favourite book?

I was thining of The Chamber of Secrets or The Deathly Hallows but I finally chose The Deathly Hallows because you got to know everything and it was all wrapped up so beautiful. In this book you really see how brilliantt the story and, of course, J. K. Rowling is.

2) Favourite movie?

Here, I do choose The Chamber of Secrets because it’s the most true to the book. I also love Dobby so much! He’s my all-time favourite character of Harry Potter.

3) Parts in the book/movie that made you cry?

Okay, are you ready for this? The first time I cried in this series was when Sirius died. (Sometimes I cry when Cedric dies but not that often.) Then I cried with the deaths of Dumbledore, Hedwig, Dobby (I died of crying), Fred, Remus, Tonks,.. I cried a lot during the Battle of Hogwarts. But recently I feel like crying all the time when I watch the movies or read the books. I’m probably too nostalgic… XD

4) Favourite character?

DOBBY! Dobby! Definitly Dobby! He’s so cute and so, so brave and I died with him! Sometimes when I walk into my room I hope to see him sitting on my bed. Don’t think too weird of me… XD

5) What would your Patronus be?

Wait. I’ll do some tests.

(Half an hour later) So I did five tests and my results were all different: an otter, a rabid, a Phoenix, a hedgehog and an owl… Well, I guess my Patronus will be some kind of bird or rodent.

6) If you could have the Resurrection Stone, the Invisibility Cloak or the Elder Wand, which one would you choose?

The Invisibility Cloak. I would use it to spy on people. XD I don’t need the Resurrection Stone and if I would just have a wand I would be the happiest person in the world.

7) What House would you be in?

Ravenclaw! I’m so proud to be a Ravenclaw! I love to learn, I like to go to school and they say I’m not dumb, so yeah!

8) If you could meet any member of the cast, who would it be?

Emma Watson! I love her so much and she was and will always be  the perfect Hermione. She’s an inspiration to us all  and a great rolemodel. I seriously look up to her.

9) If you were on the Quidditch team, what position whould you play?

I know I would never be in the Quidditch team but if I am for some reason I would probably be the Seeker. I’m too scared of all those big balls… XD

10) Were you happy with the ending?

Absolutly! I think it was a perfect end for a perfect series. I loved Harry with Ginny, I loved Ron with Hermione (I was quite shocked when Jo said she wasn’t happy with who ended up with who…) I just loved everything about it! But I don’t understand why Jo didn’t let Umbridge die in a most awful way…

11) How much does Harry Potter mean to you?

Harry Potter means the world to me. I’ve knew it whole my life and it’s the best (or worst) thing that ever happened and will happen to me. I can’t imagine a life without Harry Potter! That must be a very dark and terrible and sad life…

That was it! Now you know everything (if not, you still know a lot) about my thoughts of Harry Potter. If you maybe have some more questions for me just comment below! 🙂
